I wanted to write a public letter of thanks to the wonderful Skowhegan Farmers Market this summer. It was very exciting to have so many new farmers, artisan bakers and cheesemakers joining our local food venue. It is outstanding that for over 10 years, our farmers have shown their dedication to providing us with locally grown foods.

They say that good food is a right and not a privilege and yet I think as a local community we should be very thankful for such a committed force of localvores in Skowhegan.

The farmers' dedication to Skowhegan shines through by continuing the market this winter. I look forward to shopping, despite what the weather will bring and thank you ahead of snowfall for the Saturdays, first and third of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., that you will brave the elements so I can enjoy eating locally.
