Seems that a Madison dentist (KJ, Oct. 27) paid kids a dollar per pound for candy that someone bought a couple of days earlier for three to five dollars per pound.
Let's see now. I'll give you $5,000 for a car you just paid $20,000 for. You tell me. Who got treated and who got tricked?
Oh, well. At least the dentist's heart was in the right place. He did all this just so the kids' teeth wouldn't rot.
But wait. Did he throw away that tooth-rotting candy? No. He sent it to the troops to rot their teeth.
What a patriot! The Taliban will send him a thank-you letter as soon as the troops' teeth start falling out.
Oh, my! What's the matter with me? Why am I so worried about the troops' teeth? Unlike us peasants, they get free dental care, don't they?
