Because Janet Mills didn't find any references to marriage in the public school curricula -- does she think that once "same-sex marriage" is legalized, homosexuals and their apologists won't be demanding that homosexual relationships be taught in schools as normal?
That is their modus operandi: first to portray themselves as victims to get sympathy and support -- then, to employ the incremental approach until they achieve their ends. (Take a look at Dennis Altman's book, "The Homosexualization of America.")
Therefore, once homosexuality is normalized, all boundaries are down. A federal judge has already ruled that schools now can portray homosexual relationships as normal to children -- despite what parents think or believe. So much for Attorney General Janet Mills' opinion that gay marriage is irrelevant to schools.
As a final thought, however: since Mills "scoured Maine laws relating to the education of its children", she must have also come across Title 20, Section 1221, Chapter III, under "Religion and Morals." Among other noble principles, this law states that chastity shall be taught in Maine schools. It is my hope that Mills will endeavor to be just as diligent in this cause as she has been for the homosexuals, and inform our public schools of this law.
