Calif. voters got it wrong about right to marry

By 52 percent to 48 percent, the voters of California denied a fundamental right -- the right to marry -- to gay citizens of that state. The voters got it wrong.

No transient electoral body, including the good people of California, has any moral or constitutional right to do that.

Professor Kermit Roosevelt of the University of Pennsylvania Law School has made a convincing argument.

The founder of the Christian religion may feel some disappointment in his latter-day followers.
