Morning Sentinel
Most of our problems not 'fixable by government'
Kennebec Journal & Morning Sentinel 10/31/2008

After reading most of the first section of the newspaper nearly every morning for the last month or two, I get the feeling that far too many people are expecting government to fix things.

It is my opinion that many, if not most, of our problems do not admit of any political solution. I was a Republican all my life until only a few months ago, and I have become so disgusted with the GOP that I withdrew my membership at the town office.

I worked with many others to try to help the Ron Paul campaign, but even then I told them that if they expected him to fix everything (assuming the press and all the powers that be hadn't vilified him as they did) they were in for a tremendous disappointment.

Most of our problems are not fixable by government, but rather by a change of attitude and a willingness to take responsibility for ourselves. We need an inner change of heart desperately.
