What Collins says, results of her actions different
Kennebec Journal & Morning Sentinel 08/19/2008

The recent article in The Morning Sentinel covering Rep. Tom Allen's appearance at the Waterville Rotary Club neglected to mention some of the important distinctions that Allen drew between himself and Sen. Susan Collins.

One that should be mentioned is that while Collins is "pro-choice," her votes to support extremely conservative judicial nominees to the Supreme Court have, no surprise, led to decisions that have restricted both a woman's right of choice and her chances of a fair settlement under the equal opportunity laws.

The current administration has shown how important it is that we have senators willing to stand up to the president even when he is a member of their own party.
