They are going after soda and beer as a way to do it. Well it's not illegal to consume either. However, as I look over recent court news I can't help but notice OUI cases and the fines levied upon them. Most recently, Monday, June 16, Skowhegan Court, there were a total of 29 cases presented, of which 24 for OUI, totaling $12,700. Wow, that's just one day, one courtroom.
I say double those fines for OUI and look what happens to health care then, and all those cuts could once again be funded, court clerks and staff could have jobs they lost or are about to lose.
Just imagine the cash flow coming from something illegal rather than legal. Double those fines, keep Mainers safe and take the drunks off our streets and highways.
Oh wait, and then I woke up and realized I am in Maine -- the way life is.
