In an article Saturday (May 31), Andy Price from Competitive Energy Service was quoted regarding the upcoming vote to reinstate the Commercial Development Review Ordinance in Freedom:

"A vast majority of Freedom residents have given us their support," Price said. "We urge people to reject the ordinance, just like they did a year ago."

Price said Beaver Ridge Wind hopes to proceed with construction, regardless of the June 10 result, because the ordinance vote is not directly tied to the wind farm. The company holds a valid building permit, he said.

So Price intends to build this project no matter how the town votes -- no surprise. Why shouldn't he be confident? After all, his uncle, Selectman Ron Price, is running the show.

Wake up, folks, and see what's happening to our town. Don't believe their promise that three turbines is the end of it. CES would not buy up more land and run 10 miles of heavy duty transmission lines for just three turbines.

Freedom has sold out for the faint hope of some tax dollars -- and it's just a hope. Franklin County has a tax agreement with the developer - - so did Mars Hill. Not Freedom!

The same can be said for guidelines and safety standards. Industrial wind turbine development is regulated by the Department of Environmental Protection or Land Use Regulation Commission in every other town in Maine -- but not Freedom!

I thought everyone was entitled to equal protection under the law -- evidently not.
