It is also clear that Allen will do anything to stay in MoveOn's good graces.
On Sept. 26, Allen was given an opportunity on the floor of the U.S. House to denounce MoveOn.org's despicable and outrageous slandering tactics employed against four-star Gen. David Petraeus. According to Congressional Record H10919, Allen initially voted in support of the measure. He then switched his vote on the floor of the House of Representatives and voted against the motion to denounce MoveOn as reported in the Congressional Record, H10919, 9/26/07; RCV#910.
Before the vote, Allen already had received almost $250,000 in contributions for his campaign through the efforts of MoveOn. After Allen switched his vote, MoveOn initiated an organized fundraising appeal, with Allen receiving more than $100,000 for his campaign. That means Allen has received more than $350,000 from MoveOn's efforts to date.
Obviously, Allen is well aware of the financial rewards to be gained by supporting MoveOn and its political views.
I much prefer to see someone of Collins' caliber, who votes for what is best for our state and country -- not for how much money she can obtain for her campaign.
