There's nothing removely logical about Republican dogma. That college students can't be objective enough or knowlegeable enough to see through the smoke of anti-middle class Republican dogma isn't saying good things about both the college AND student(s).report abuse

Paul Ferris of Waterville, ME If Senator Collins loses her Senate seat, she can thank George Bush. She supported the war in Iraq and voted to confirm the worst Attorney General, Alberto Gonzalez knowing that he was behind the torture memos. In 2005 the Senate voted 92-2 to rein in the CIA and make it subject to Military guidelines on interrogation. She and Jane Harmen worked with the White House and caved in to pressure from Condi Rice. Collins was quoted in the New York Times as saying the issue was too complex for present legislation. She agreed to curtial the amendment with the undersstanding that the subject would be taken up later. It never was until the McCaine amendment. Collins voted for the amendment to limit CIA interrogations to the Army Field Manual but Bush emasculated the amendment with a signing statement. What did Senator Collins do. She voted again for the confirmation of Mr Mukasey for Attorney General who basically lied when he said he did not know if waterboarding is torture.

You can bet that Senator Collins will soon be trying to distance herself from Bush's imperial and unconstitutional presidency. For many Mainers it will be too late.report abuse

jm of Augusta, ME Collins has been a consistent enabler of George W. Bush: the needless invasion of Iraq, tax cuts for millionaires, tax breaks for big oil...the list goes on and on. As a member of the Republican minority in the Senate that has consistently blocked needed legislation by virtue of the "60 vote" rule, Collins is part of the problem in Washington. Maine voters have to decide if they seriously want to see a change of direction in Congress. If they do, a vote for Collins makes NO sense.

However, if you want like the direction the country's going in, vote for Collins, by all means. report abuse
