Christians do
defend themselves
Kennebec Journal & Morning Sentinel

I read the letter titled "Christians don't smear." I was surprised to see it printed. It referred neither to any article I know of in the paper nor to an author who works at the Kennebec Journal. Why would the Journal publish a letter related to another newspaper or author (Hein) who works at another paper?

The issue of the letter was about "hate" toward pagans or those who are non-Christian.

If the author does not profess Christianity, how can they know what is "Christ-like?"

What this letter writer forgot is that Christians have a right to profess, protect and defend their faith. If they feel that pagan growth in the community is a spiritual risk to their children and their families, they have the right to bring this to the public's attention.

Christian moral responsibility requires that one does not sit back and allow pagan or secular influence to harm Christian principles. This is what most Christians who are socially active try to do.

They merely want others to respect their own faith and to keep immoralities and harmful practices from hurting others. This involves keeping schools open to Christian children by asking public schools to respect Christian beliefs too and individual towns to keep anti-Christian practices away from where they may mislead others.

We are all responsible for our fellow neighbor. That's how Christians are Christ-like. We pray for others and we try to help them love Jesus too.

Well VivaBusho of Waterville, ME, I think I'm starting to see your problem now, apparently you didn't go to the site I referenced and watch the video presentation there in its entirety.

The point that I was making is that the author of the article titled "Christians do defend themselves" is trying to use this forum to spread her religion (the practice of a doctrine that is based upon a system of beliefs) and she fails to see that actually the origins of her religion are founded in the ancient pagan religions.

But since you've apparently chosen not to view the video, I guess you're only recourse was to make an off-point statement that actually had nothing to do about what I had posted. Must have been a dull evening for you to have to go that route.

Then again, with a screen name like VivaBusho, I suppose expecting you to stay on point with the subject matter being discussed is at times a real challenge.

Nelson,

Hold on, I'm not a George W. Bush or Republican "supporter". I think you're right to call him the leader of a gang of liars! We're on the same side.report abuse

Snow,
Naomi is an oustanding editor. You are blinded by your lust for ideology, not by a desire for balanced opportunity of perspectives or the truth of that balance. You probably love Fox "Republican" News because it is anything but "fair and balanced," it is right-wing and ideologically driven under the guise of "fair and balanced." Please bother to learn the difference between "ideology" and "news." The truth and knowlege will set you free!report abuse

Nelson,
Reality is a nice thing. If you're talking about "boo" kind of things that go bump in the night and the supernatural as defining public policy, well, that's your choice as an individual ... but the majority of sane Americans and our founding fathers (the tripe about this being founded as a "Christian" nation is nonsense, revisionist history by the religious right without grounding in history) sure our political "leaders" ought to be dealing with THIS reality. That's the point. Let's say there's a "leader" who kept referring to the inspiration he took from messages from Zeus. I think you and many others would be deeply concerned about that. You're not concerned about the bible bashing of George W. Bush or other public figures because that's what you "believe," but that isn't what many others who have just as much a right to government by all of the people as you do.
I'm not really sure what you mean about "sheep" and who is GW? Do you mean George Washington? George W. Bush?report abuse

What's you're problem VivaBusho of Waterville, ME, could it be that you're concerned that people might see through the veil of deception that's been used to hoodwink them all of their lives?

Has your buddy GW or members of his gang of liars, killers and thieves asked for your assistance in persuading the people that they shouldn't question figures of authority or are you just another "subject" in life that accepts authority as the truth, instead of the truth as the authority?

I really doubt if you're concerned about my blood pressure, sounds more like you want to keep the sheep dumbed down to a manageable level.report abuse

You need to learn to relax! Just chill out and go for a walk to the junkyard or something else that you enjoy. You're pushing up your blood pressure dangerously high!report abuse

The first amendment of the Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

No one has to "respect" your religion, just not interfere with your ability to worship. Free speech gives people the right to criticize it, but also gives you the right defend it. And yes, anti-Christian practices should be frowned upon, as should anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim, or even anti-Pagan practices.

Paganism. So evil. So corrupt. OoooOOoooOooo. Crystal attunement. Energy corrections. Being at one with the Nature Goddess.

This will be the downfall of Society and bring upon us all the Armageddon (the fated Event, not the Bruce Willis movie) and higher gasoline prices. And then, homosexuality and mp3 songs about Evolution. And then the end of sports hunting and abolishment of ATV ridership and parking lot fistfights.

It's terrifying. It's like the Hillbilly Apocalypse.report abuse

Know ye the truth....and the truth shall set you free.

But then again, truth is subject to the interpretation of both the presenter and the beholder. Christianity, just like Statism, is a faith based doctrine designed for the primary purposes of mind control.
