NEWPORT -- Sabrina Vaillancourt had three goals and two assists to lead Nokomis past Oak Hill 8-0 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B field hockey action Saturday.
Jordin McGinnis added three goals for Nokomis (1-0-0). Marissa Shaw and Alison Berg finished up the scoring. Maria Adams made eight saves. Becka Zaholey stopped 13 shots for Oak Hill (0-1-0).
Mt. View 2, Maranacook 1, OT: Alonia Horton knocked in a rebound in the first overtine period to give the Mustangs the KVAC Class B win in Thorndike. Makayla Dyke scored with 12 minutes left in the first half and the Mustangs rode that lead until Maranacook's Zoie Kaley tied the game with 2:26 left in regulation.
Mt. View goalie Juni Garvin made four saves while Maranacook's Dary Wilkins had two.
Messalonskee 6, Hampden 0: Hannah Thornberg and Katie Bernatchez scored two goals each to lead Messalonskee to the KVAC win at Hampden. Holly Oliver and Erin Busque added goals while Miranda Tinsman had two assists and Bri Warren one. Messalonskee goalie Mickee McAfferty made four saves.
MCI 5, Rockland 2: Leah Edmondson scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Huskies to the win in Pittsfield. Kristy Huff, Kassie Brunette, Meghan Hughes and Michaela George also scored for MCI while Crystal Tyndall and Allison Ward scored for Rockland.
Kayla Michaud made five saves in goal for MCI while Mckayla Follett had nine for Rockland (0-1).
Girls soccer
Lawrence 9, Nokomis 1: In Fairfied, Courtney Langley and Janie O'Halloran scored three goals each to lead the Bulldogs to the KVAC Class A win in the season opener for both teams. Natasha Morris added two goals for the winners while Kristin Melcher scored one.
Lawrence won the junior varsity game 9-0.
Boys soccer
Lawrence 2, Nokomis 1: Kyle Rabe scored a pair of goals to lead Lawrence to the season opening win in Newport.
Kelby Duplisea scored for Nokomis. Codey Fabian had three saves for Lawrence, while Tyler Wintle made 10 stops for the Warriors.
