In the boys race, Mt. Blue scored a perfect 10 to defeat second place Oxford Hills, which finished with 48 points. The Cougar girls etched a 14-35 win over the Vikings, who were followed by Mt. Abram with 39 points.
Titcomb's Otter Slide has been the site of four slalom events this season, and Prentiss has won all four races. Wednesday, he closed out the course in a combined two-run time of 1 minute, 7.4 seconds, a full second ahead of teammate Reid Bond.
"It is our home course and we practice here, so I'm pretty comfortable on the hill," Prentiss said.
"When I came off the pitch, I could feel myself picking up speed."
Peter Smith and Pete Farnum gave the Cougars a sweep of the top four positions, finishing third and fourth, respectively.
With the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championships next week (Feb. 7 and 10), Mt. Blue has been hoping the girls team would start to hit its stride with Cyr leading the way through the slalom gates. Cyr had a smooth ride, winning by nearly three seconds over teammate Abby Martin, who finished second. Cyr's combined two-run time was 1:13.61.
"I felt like I was low and getting on edge," Cyr said. "We are starting to get into the season more, now that the KVAC meet is next week."
Rounding out the Cougars scoring team was Emily Deane (fifth, 1:21.71) and Casey Tibbetts (sixth (1:22.12).
"Emily has been consistent as our No. 3 skier all year and doing well as a freshman," said Mt. Blue coach Mark Cyr. "Casey is coming back from a serious knee injury last year and is starting to gain confidence."
Also attending the meet was the highly regarded Mt. Abram girls team, led by freshman Emily Luce, who finished third (1:17.14) after trailing Cyr by a half-second after the first run. The Roadrunners are prepping for next week's Mountain Valley Conference championship (Feb. 8 and 10).
"My turns felt really good going through the gates," Luce said. "Hopefully, we will all do our best at the MVCs."
The Roadrunners were minus top skier Erica Luce, a junior, who was skiing in a Nordic race at Black Mountain in Rumford while preparing to defend her MVC Skimeister title. Luce finished ninth in the 5K freestyle race.
"Erica has been doing a lot of Alpine racing," said Mt. Abram coach Bob Luce, who is also Erica and Emily's Dad. "She needed to get some work in on Nordic to help her prepare for the MVC races."
Roadrunners Noelle Lake and Jillian Withee cracked the top 10 finishing ninth and 10th, respectively.
