Nokomis baseball
Coach: Jared Foster
Last season: 1-15 in Eastern A
Top returners: Ken York (Sr. C), Cody Johndro (Sr., SS-P), Casey Reynolds (Sr., 1B), Justin Downing (Sr., OF), John Watson (Sr., OF), Taylor Gould (Jr., 3B-P), Derek Amoroso (So., P-OF-1B)
Key newcomers: John Long (Jr., OF), Tyler Harding (So., 2B), Kelby Duplissea (So., OF), Tyler Wintle (So., OF), Jordan Richards (So., OF-P), Mike White (So., C), Dylan Savageau (So., OF), Rueben York (So., OF), Jared Seamans (Fr., 1B), Paul Ketchan (Fr., OF)
Outlook: Foster takes over a team that won just three games over the last three seasons, and he’s rebuilding with a core of young players. There are eight sophomores on the roster, including Amoroso, who will be the team’s top pitcher. Veterans Johndro and Reynolds lead the Warriors’ offense.
Coach’s comment: “The kids are great. They want to learn. Our goal as a team is to get five wins and improve.”

Last season: 8th in Class B meet
Top returners: Casey White (Sr., discus, shot put, javelin), Josh Vega (Sr., sprinter), Matt McLemore (Sr., shot put, discus), Micah Brown (Sr., javelin), Ben Porter (Sr., distance), Josh Hopkins (Jr., jumper), Kyle Kosobud (Jr., sprinter), Kevin Wilber (Jr., distance), Ethan Curry (J., sprinter), Shane Campbell (Jr., hurdles), Matt Thompson (Soph., jumper)
Key newcomers: Jonathan Barrows (Soph.)
Outlook: White will do a little bit of everything for the Warriors and Josh Vega may also see time in the 400 as well.
Coach’s comment: “We don’t have anyblazing kids, but we have enough to place.”
Nokomis girls track
Coach: John White
Last season: 22nd in Class B state meet
Top returners: Taylor Donaldson (Sr., jumper), Ali Hobart (Sr., mid-distance), Kat Ouellette (Sr., sprinter), Jaime Spraggins (Sr., sprinter), Lindsey Bailey (Jr., jumper), Hannah Hanson (Jr., jumper), Katlyn Melanson (Jr., sprinter), Rebecca Wolonski (Soph., javelin)
Key newcomers: Jennifer Hastings (Fr., jumper)
Outlook: Donaldson qualified for states last year and Wolonski returns as the school record-holder in the 300 hurdles and long jump.
Coach’s comment: We’ve got some good returning seniors and good leadership.”

Nokomis softball
Coach: J.D. McLellan (5th season)
Last season: 11-6, made Eastern A prelims
Top returners: Patrice Cianchette (Sr., P), Danielle White (Sr., 3B), Danielle Gray (Sr., OF), Kayla Easler (Sr., OF), Autumn Silke (Jr., SS), Sammy Moore (Jr., OF), Erin Knight (Jr., OF), Olivia Fuller (So., 3B), Sabrina Vaillancourt (So., UT)
Key newcomers: Kristina Hart (Sr., UT), Jess Orcutt (Jr., UT), Heidi Wyman (So., UT), Kori Mayo (So., UT), McKenzie Drake (Fr., UT), Sammy Richardson (Fr., UT)
Outlook: The Warriors were hoping to make some noise in the playoffs last season, but were ousted by eventual regional champion Skowhegan. Nokomis has a solid pitcher in Cianchette and a capable defense behind her. What the Warriors are looking for now is an offense that can consistently put runs on the scoreboard.
Coach’s comment: “Our defense is going to be strong. This year I’m going to push offense more.”
