Doucette easily defeated Zlatko Necevski, 1,837-390, to keep her position on the RSU 18 board. She had served for five terms on the School Administrative District 47 board, prior to consolidation.
Owner of a preschool/nursery school, Doucette stressed the importance of small class sizes, and a comfortable environment for both teachers and students.
Leighton also won easily. She got 1,089 votes to 601 for Lawrence Folsom, a former SAD 47 director. Cathy McKelway, who took the position to fill a vacancy in August, got 518 votes.
An administrator at T-Mobile in FirstPark, Leighton said it is important to put students first, while keeping an eye on the interests of taxpayers.
Tuesday's election was the first for RSU, since consolidation earlier this year.
