The hearing will be held during the Board of Selectmen's meeting that starts at 6:30 pm. in the Farmington Municipal Building.
The owner of the property at 466 Industry Road, Marc Hand, has been warned in two certified letters from the town that his accumulation of miscellaneous items, including large appliances, furniture and cars, is in violation of the town's junkyard ordinance. To maintain a junkyard, a person must comply with a list of requirements, including screening of the property, and renew the permit each year.
The first letter, sent by code enforcement officer Steve Kaiser on June 26, told Hand the junk had to be removed. According to Town Manager Richard Davis, Hand called Kaiser and he said he would comply.
"Where there was no voluntary cleanup, Steve wrote again on Oct. 20 and informed him of the date of the public hearing," Davis said.
Also tonight, the board will revisit a consent agreement signed by Jonathan and Benjamin Cummings that committed them to clean up their property at 185 Maple Ave., which was damaged by fire earlier this year.
The brothers, with the help of a local church, got rid of the debris and they have enclosed the burned section of the house; but the agreement also required them to cover the plywood walls with vinyl siding so the house would not be an eyesore until renovations are complete. That has not been done, Davis said.
Selectmen tonight will also consider a wage and salary adjustment for town employees, a calculation based on the average of the monthly U.S. Consumer Price Index between Oct. 1, 2008, and Sept. 30, 2009.
