In this newly-created position, Griswold will teach, implement and direct UMF's new Master of Science in Education degree program. The program was created to develop outstanding educational leaders to meet the needs of western and central Maine.
"We are thrilled to have Philip Griswold at the head of UMF's new master's program in education and welcome him to the University community," Kalikow said. "He brings a commitment to teaching excellence that will enrich the master's program and enhance the way that teachers approach educational issues."
With more than 25 years of teaching experience, Griswold comes to UMF from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, where he served as an associate professor of professional and secondary education.
"I am honored to be a part of this landmark graduate study program at UMF," Griswold said. "UMF has a long history of dedication to the teachers of Maine, and this program will continue that commitment by giving them a great opportunity for a quality graduate education."
