The young Hereford cows were taken on Thursday and Friday from a farm owned by Randy Robinson, Somerset County Sheriff's Detective Lt. Carl E. Gottardi II said in a release Tuesday.
The first one reportedly was stolen from inside a barn, the second one from an outside pen, he said. Both were approximately one-week old, Gottardi said.
Sheriff's deputies, armed with details from an investigation and from information gleaned on Saturday, carried out a search warrant at a home on Commercial Street in Hartland at about 2 a.m. Sunday.
Police found the stolen calves and returned them to the Palmyra farm, according to Gottardi. He said the case is being reviewed by the district attorney's office to determine if charges will be brought against the person living at the Hartland residence.
