Frank Pooler, 28, and Rose Foster, 22, are charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine, according to Kennebec County Sheriff Randall Liberty.
A search warrant was carried out by the Northern Kennebec Drug Task Force, including investigators and police officers from the Kennebec County Sheriff's Department and the Fairfield, Oakland and Clinton police departments.
Police seized about 15 grams of powder cocaine, valued at approximately $1,500, with a set of digital scales, ledgers, baggies and other items that police said point to an active cocaine trafficking business.
The couple is charged with aggravated trafficking due to the close proximity of the Silver Street home to Clinton Elementary School, Liberty said.
"The execution of this search warrant is the result of two months of investigation involving several law enforcement agencies," Liberty said in a release. "We believe that these individuals have been in the drug trade for some time. We're pleased that they are behind bars.
"The more arrests we are able to make, the less product there is on the street, creating a reduction in the potential for addiction."
Pooler was out on bail on a previous arrest for being a habitual offender of motor-vehicle laws and was additionally charged with violation of the conditions of his release.
Foster is currently on probation for a previous cocaine-trafficking charge in 2007 in Fairfield.
Both Foster and Pooler remained Wednesday at the Kennebec County jail on $10,000 cash bail for each.
Arraignment on the charges could come sometime this week.
