The State Fire Marshal's Office will hold a news conference Tuesday to support a ban of the sale of novelty cigarette lighters in Maine, according to the Department of Public safety.

A collection of novelty lighters was purchased at Maine stores during the past year.

Some emit a flame four inches high, and adults and children have been burned using them, department spokesman Stephen McCausland reported Friday.

The news conference will take place in the Statehouse, Hall of Flags, at 2:30 p.m.

These are the kind of laws ya get when ya elect democrats! Instead of fixing the tax and state economy in Maine, they focus their time and our money on frickin lighters!

I agree with Leon, Enough is enough. I was at a meating once listening to two Fire Marshalls and their quoted motto is, "No place to far in a State car!" they laughed and the crowd was just disgusted. Rumor has it that the head of the Fire Marshall's office is trying to get a Federal job. This may be his way to create new laws to get recognized. The Fire Marshalls office has been cut before but I think it was cut in the wrong areas.report abuse
