Superintendent of Schools Eric Haley said the culprits made their way into the high school sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday.
At least two faculty computers, which had not been logged out, were compromised.
"We had a couple of computers that had some pornography loaded onto them," Haley said Friday morning. "They accessed a pornography site and put the pictures as background, so when (the teachers) moved their mouse, the background picture was pornography."
Haley said he didn't think it was a senior prank, but more than likely juveniles who found their way into the school.
"I doubt it was seniors, the stuff that was done was very juvenile," Haley said. "I don't see it as any out-going senior work. They would have left their mark -- such as 'Class of 2007' somewhere."
Besides, Haley said, the cafeteria also had been trashed with tables strewn around this week. Windows were broken inside the school and teacher supplies also were scattered.
Contacted Friday, Waterville police Detective Alan Main, the school resource officer, said the case is being investigated. Fingerprints lifted from the scene, along with footprints and other evidence, are being processed to track down whomever was responsible for the damage.
'We have nothing concrete yet to go on," Main said.
Haley said a classroom door in the science wing was broken, as was a skylight. He said investigators still are not sure how the people got into the school.
"We don't get this typically. This is very unusual," he said. "We have had good end-of-year closings. I think it's random acts of juveniles."

I KNOW THIS IS A LATE ENTRY HOWEVER OFFICER MAIN IS A GREAT POLICE OFFICER I THINK HE WILL FIND THE CULPRITS.report abuse
These events did not go on during school, the school was hit by vandals. Maine is a great place to raise children, and Waterville is a great small city. I simply suggest if your all so concerned you move and not complain. Several readers here will even assist you.report abuse
Teaching staff typically would not be the ones to download porn on their work computer, putting their career at risk. That just sounds stupid.
Skylights can be broken easily. All you have to do is throw something at it. Hello! You don't have to be 10 ft tall to reach it.
Well orchestrated? I think you are giving the vandals more credit than is due. They found a way into the school after hours and went crazy. They decided they could find some fun by throwing things around and destroying things. Sounds more like typical teen vandals than a sophisticated group of criminals.
Tunegal, here's an idea. If you disagree soooo much with what is going in Waterville, MOVE. It's probably good that you do homeschool your children. No school district would want to deal with you.report abuse
