Man struck by car escapes major injury

WEST FARMINGTON — A Farmington man who has been biking to work for years was struck by a car at a four-way-stop intersection Tues- day morning but escaped with minor injuries, Farmington police said.

John Systma of Temple Road, who works at Tri-County Mental Health Services on High Street, was struck by a 2002 Jeep Cherokee operated by Rhonda Kane, 44, of Temple at about 8 a.m. Systma was traveling east on Temple Road and was crossing the intersection when Kane started turning left onto Temple Street, said Officer Ed Hastings.

He said Kane had stopped at the stop sign but failed to see Systma before her car struck him.

6:10 p.m., a domestic disturbance on Main Street sent someone to the hospital.

4:20 p.m., a theft was reported on Somerset Avenue.

IN WATERVILLE, Tuesday at 1:10 p.m., Matthew McDougal,18, of 35 Burleigh St., No. 3, arrested on a charge of operating after suspension, on Summer Street.

At noon, Christopher Humphrey, 24, of 9 Burrill St., Fairfield, arrested on a warrant, on Colby Street.

2:34 a.m., Travis Dobson, 22, of Pittsfield, arrested on charges of OAS, violation of conditions of release and theft, on Kennedy Memorial Drive.

Monday at 9:24 p.m., Jason Nadeau, 35, of 3 High St., No. 3, arrested on charges of domestic assault and two counts of criminal threatening, on High Street.

9:15 p.m., Daniel Hall, 20, of 150 College Ave., No. 43, arrested on charges of OAS and illegal attachment of plates, on Common Street.

7:10 p.m., Tracy Coco, 24, of 167 Northern Ave., arrested on a charge of theft by deception, at Marden’s Surplus & Salvage.
