logicalone2: I've been saying for a while that medical marijuana should only be available at pharmacies. Your idea makes sense!report abuse

logicalone: yep, it isn't really that complicated. I agree with your plan. I mentioned it before: Backyard farms has all the equipment to go into production. Give them a license to grow organic pot. I am all for MOFGA to get on board as well. The product would then get distributed to local pharmacies or dispensaries who could be situated at doctors offices. Comparing the abuse of MJ to Xanax and other Benzos isnt' fair. The Benzos are in much higher demand and can be deadly especially when mixed with alcohol. MJ isn't. I have never heard of a case where somebody smoked so much that they went into respiratory failure and died. The people who will smoke MJ for medicinal purposes won't be problem. I bet if you take a look at statistics, 95% of criminal activity has nothing to do with pot; it has something to do with the abuse and addiction to prescription drugs (if the crime was drug related in the first place). The State knows it, law enforcement knows it. It's just difficult to acknowledge that what you have been fighting and what you are fighting isn't the enemy.report abuse

Anyone off the street that can, pay $5,000 & with a somewhat clean background, get a license to operate a dispensary.
Why shouldn't that same person be able to pay $5,000 & with a somewhat clean background, get a license to operate a PHARMACY???

One sugg I've never seen in 100's of articles, is to have licensed farms, w/ distribution to pharmacies. The patient gets an id card.

The farms would be regulated & inspected by the State Police (or MDEA). Who is better qualified to determine if records are in order (or if pot is going out the back door) - The State Police OR the DHHS??

This oversight would ensure consistency, purity, & safety (not "dusted" or tainted) of the Marijuana (unlike what is avail on the street).

The prossessed Marijuana would be bagged loose or put into rolling machines (as cigs) - for patients who can't roll or just prefer it all packaged.

The Marijuana would be distributed to pharmacies. Who is better able to spot a fake perscription - A pharmacy OR a DISPENSARY (remember the person off the street w/ the extra $5,000)????

The ID card would be issued like driver licenses/concealed weapons permits (info ver, etc), making the job of the police officer on the street much less complicated.

MEDICAL Marijuana s/b be treated as any pharmaceutical medication.

Pharmacies do have flaws (ie. OxyContin, Vicoden, etc) but imagine how MANY more flaws would occur if drugs were distributed by "anyone off the street that can pay $5,000 & with a somewhat clean background".

These regulations would eliminate many opponents. How many opponents of Marijuana are also trying to ban Valium or Xanax??? These are abused on the street like Marijuana.

A side benefit is the licensed farms could be taxed on production (unlike what is sold on the street). Tax s/b reasonable so that Medical Marijuana DOES NOT become unaffordable for patients. A regulated sys would allow insurance co's to cover like any other pharmaceutical medication.report abuse
