This is no surprise at all, but our PUC seems to be the only ones a little surprised. Why do we even have a PUC if they don't act on the publics behalf. That was their only mission and as usual they failed to heed the warnings, and did what they were told. I for one am tired of paying for these kind of commissions, when they are not doing their jobs. All that was known at the time and yet they still allowed it. Why do we just sit around and take it? The PUC works for us and they failed horribly, and as would happen to us for a huge failure "removal" so should they be.report abuse

When it was clear that the sale of service from Verizon to Fairpoint would be approved in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont I ended my service with Verizon and got phone service elsewhere. I'm not completely happy but I'm still glad I'm not with Fairpoint. At least the paper makes it clear: Verizon was "uploading" its unprofitable business, keeping the cell phone service which is profitable. The PUC didn't do us any favors on this one.report abuse
