I take issue with Phil Goodell's opinion piece on the so-called Employee Free Choice Act. For one, I am a veteran, too. However, to link your military service with a union bill that robs workers of their fundamental American right to a secret-ballot election and their right to vote on a binding, two-year contract just doesn't cut it.

In short, workers could end up in a union they didn’t vote for, and forced to abide by a contract they didn’t vote on. No secret-ballot election. No vote on a contract. Where is the free choice in that?

There is no democracy in the Employee Free Choice Act, and as veterans, that is what we fought to preserve. Goodell ought to be embarrassed and ashamed for even linking the two together!report abuse

Abolish the unions they are a thing of the past and no longer needed in this country. Get with the rest of the working world and try working for your paycheck like most Americans.report abuse

I would have been against the death tax on estates over $100M and I am against the death tax imposed on estates over $1M today. I'll find you as many Democrats as I can Republicans who are against unionization- and vice versa. Political parties have nothing to do with this. Unions have to do with driving up the cost of labor and increasing the price of things I buy at the local retailer. I say get rid of them all. My favorite union is the one down in Boston for Shaw's workers- what would we do without that?!?report abuse
