"The fact that you truly believe that is quite perplexing especially that the republicans are either pushing or backing much of this. Or if there not doing that then there just complaining without offering any real alternatives. Even in this case with the tax bill what alternatives did they offer?"

Try LD1279. Face it the Democrats supported and passed a bill that raises the income tax for 30,000 to 45,000 middle class taxpayers while giving the wealthy large income tax cuts. What logic did they use to single out those middle class taxpayers with high medical bills, who own a home, who are charitable, who have to travel to get work such as construction workers etc for income tax increases while giving everyone else an income tax cut? They had two years or more to work out a plan that didn't single out these middle class taxpayers and it could have been done. I don't think it is because they aren't smart enough. The only other conclusion is that they just don't care that they stuck it these middle class taxpayers. Now what changes did the Governor come up with? Leaving the sales tax on auto repair but taking it off golf, eliminating the increase in transfer tax on homes sold for $500,000 and more etc. I really don't see where the Democrats had the middle class in mind. I think the Republicans have the right to complain and there was an alternative that didn't hurt the middle class LD1279.report abuse

Here is the alternatives that conservatives want but liberals refuse to accept!

*Smaller State Government
*Real tax reductions
*Less State Spending
*Fewer Social programs

*More favorable business climate
*More Job Growth
*East-West Highway
*A Society with Morals

These are just a very few alternatives that conservatives have offered!

Liberals are in the majority, these conservative alternatives are deemed..."Ought Not To Pass"!

I am not worried though...The Liberal left rule in Augusta is coming to a close!report abuse

Your right Pro, about some of what you said. I as a liberal, someone you despise. would love to see an audit of the state, I would be overly excited for spending reductions, And an overhaul of the tax code. Of course they are just shifting the burdens, duh.
But your problem, and many of your comrades, is you just ramble on about how it's all our (liberals) fault. The fact that you truly believe that is quite perplexing especially that the republicans are either pushing or backing much of this. Or if there not doing that then there just complaining without offering any real alternatives. Even in this case with the tax bill what alternatives did they offer?
You should really stop insulting the very people you NEED to get any hope at tax reform.report abuse

What a statement!

"A Democratically controlled Legislature just lowered the state's income tax rate."

Has Hell frozen over?

Liberals lowering any taxes can only mean that some other taxes went up!

Where is the independent State audit so we know where to cut taxes?

Where is the overhaul of the State tax code?

Where is the reduction in spending?

Ask yourself...What actually got "Fixed"?

And the amount of hype this news organization (term used very loosely) gives the liberal left legislature is just impossible to stomach!

This story about the legislature reducing taxes for Mainers reminds me of the old "Snake oil Salesmen" of the west!

These "salesmen" would offer medicines that were concocted to fix some real ailment and were nothing but fake, fraudulent, quackish, and ineffective.

Just like the liberal laws and rules this state government has been hitting us with for the last 30 plus years!

All this bill does is redistribute what little wealth we have left!

Yes...MORE LIBERAL SOCIALISMreport abuse
