I'm sure the Oakland Police Department means well in pushing the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program...

Mikes of Waterville. Please, don't use alcohol or tobacco if this is your preference. But, overlooking the regulated sale of these deadly and very addictive drugs to adults when talking about marijuana is dishonest. Alcohol and Tobacco are only signs to kids that it's alright to use these drugs if their parents let this be the case. The same is true for marijuana. People will grow tobacco if it's outlawed. But, the vast majority will visit the corner store to buy it as long as it's legal for adults to do so. The same is true of pot. Never underestimate the American people's will to be good, taxpaying consumers. Re-legalization will make it harder for kids to get pot. There won't be nearly the profit motive to be involved with pot once it's legal. Since, minors only represent 5% of the illicit market, it'll be hard for criminals to stay in the marijuana business. Good parents will not count on the state to teach them that life is better without drugs. Unless, you are a medical patient in need of pharmaceuticals. Yes, marijuana is a medicine which successfully treats over 100 ailments. The FDA refuses to address this issue because it's not in the interest of the Pharma/FDA/NIH/ONDCP/DEA complex. They use smoking as their excuse for not testing it. But, vaporization, edibles and extracts are readily accepted forms of pharmaceuticals that marijuana can come in. Ever heard of Marinol? What a shame it's $1,000/mo. and has no CBD to balance it's formulation. Then we have a new marijuana based drug the NIDA is funding & it's being made by Aphios. Let's not forget the H.H.S. medical Patent the U.S. Government recently acquired on cannabinoids. Which of course come from marijuana. Two faced, double standards courtesy of our Feds.

reader of Boston, scare tactics propaganda. In reality it's the illegal status of marijuana that feeds organized crime/drug cartels/terrorists, which are undermining our nations security. Marijuana itself has nothing to do with our security.report abuse

We get into trouble when we get caught not telling the truth. It makes everything we say tainted by the fact that we seem pathologically comfortable telling LIES. It is the TRUTH that will set us FREE.

Hemp is woven into the fabric of this nation. George Washington grew it. Thomas Jefferson grew it. Our Founding Fathers accepted the Freewill of this nations citizens to be able to grow it and use it in a vast number of uses. The Parchment on which "The Declaration of Independence" & "The Constitution" is scribed on is made from Hemp.

It has a number of medical uses that have been accepted and proven throughout History. The Laws that prohibit it are founded in LIES and deception sponsored by controlling interrests that have bribed their way into existance.

Marijuana prohibition has no validity hidding behind any thought of FREEDOM. These controlling interrests are well founded in FASCISM and CORPORITISM.

Like it or not, Cannabis is woven into the fabric of our culture and effectively it is an accepted form of entertainment. Kids are smart they know the difference between hard drugs and pot. Prosecution of pot cases only uses resources that would be better applied elsewhere. Ask most people in the legal field, from either side of the bench, and you will see they generally support both decriminalization and legalization. Smart thinking on the state level would legalize the weed and regulate it much the same as we regulate alcohol. Think tax revenue and cost savings on the prosecution and interdiction side. If you don’t want your kids to smoke weed than don’t let them. Do you kids come home from school and have an afternoon cocktail? In your own households you get what you accept from your kids. The country or state is not supposed to raise your children, you are. Don’t expect the state laws to be a substitute for good parenting.report abuse
