You must not have heard that Maine has similar requirements. In fact if the adult in the household does not comply with the 'state rules' then the adult gets NO assistance. This is from day one, not after a 'grace period'. (I don't know the rules in MA and those rules very well could be similar as far as comply or no benefits) The state won't punish children for their parent's/guardian's irresponsibilty so the children will still receive benefits but at a reduced rate.
AND the state of Maine has a higher rate of working TANF recipients than any other New England state.report abuse
