Well, he is guilty, but the max he could get is what 20 years, and with mental defect, he could be out much sooner. Don't like Maine laws? then make a call or send a letter to your State Senator or Representative.report abuse

There is a school of thought every person who commits a crime from stealing a pack of gum to murder is suffering from some degree of mental illness.

Mental illness should not be an excuse to being held responsible for a crime.report abuse

Schizo? YA THINK???? This wacko must have exhibited signs of this before committing these horrendous acts. Why was he walking around in a normal society?? This was bound to happen; the question was,WHEN?? Now he'll be "treated" in a nice cushy mental facility, where he should have been ANYWAY!! ....and on it goes, & on & on.....report abuse

Schizophrenic, most likely, that doesn't cut it for me--responsible for his actions, most definatly! Too many insanity pleas here in Maine. He should never see the light of day for these horrific deaths.
Anyone who can murder someone (unprevoked) in this brutal way has to be insane.report abuse
