Maine State Police and the KSO call share every two weeks. MSP will patrol Benton, for example, with KSO switching off for the next two weeks. Neither is dispatched, or connected to in any way, Somerset SO. The Augusta dispatch center takes care of MSP & Kennebec deputies.
Since Benton gets its fire/rescue services from Fairfield, they deal exclusively with Somerset County.
Confusion reigns, yes?
Yet another example of your tax dollars at work.report abuse
Many small towns in Kennebec County were virulently opposed to KSO's abdication of the dispatch center. Their concerns have obviously been born out.
Now, it is time to pay the piper for the folly of putting one's eggs in one's basket.
Why pay county taxes? Blame the Kennebec County Commissioners & the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office for not standing up and fighting this!report abuse
"Somerset cannot dispatch for Kennebec County".
I ask why is that? If it is cheaper who cares where the call originates. The 911 calls to Somerset make much more sense since the Fairfield Fire and Rescue respond to Benton and they are dispatched directly from Somerset County.
Another question:
How can Augusta bill Benton for a service it is not receiving?report abuse
