Well, people of Maine, again we lost the opportunity to help ourselves in this time of need.

Question 2 would...

On the other hand, if you don't come from here you haven't got a dog in this fight. Don't let the door hitcha as far as I am concerned. We've got enough troubles to work out without any interlopers.report abuse

So, conservatives ran off to Canada? Conservatives moved to Europe after Obama was elected, and threatened to?

No selective memory here. Others might have said that to you, and still others. I never said it, and won't. And I won't have it said to me.

Aint going anywhere. Not going to be that easy for you.report abuse

If Mainers really want to donate their hard-earned dollars to the mob, they should just fly to Vegas. We don't need to bring Vegas dirt to us!report abuse

Leon:

"America: love it or leave it" was a slogan coined by pro-Vietnam war types who were angered that anyone would dare to dissent.

This prompted a fondly-remembered bumpersticker:
"Vietnam: love it or leave it."

Ah, the memories....report abuse

Not coming "back at me" chummy, because you've never read or heard it spoke by me. Fact is, I've never heard a conservative say they'd leave this country under any circumstances. Although, I am sure you might find one or two if you look hard enough.

That said, I stand by my original assertion, that desertion of the country by Left Wingnuts when things don't go the way they want is their byline. Conservatives hang in and continue to love their country, not reject it.

So, again, it's not coming back at me. And I'm not going anywhere. Not going to make it that easy.report abuse

In a rational world, Maine democrats would have to answer for their economic malfeasance. In 2005, Maine had the distinction along with hurricane ravaged Louisiana of being the only two states in the nation that had negative economic growth. In 2006, Maine shared that high honor with another state that has been pushed to the brink of ruin by democrat policies, Michigan. A grateful Maine population rewarded democrats by returning the incompetent governor to office and increasing their majority in the house, followed by even larger majorities this year.

It's obvious that Maine people are satisified with the depressed condition of the state, so there's no sense worrying about it further.report abuse

JJ you are correct, businesses create jobs. The key is to create jobs that are meaningful, not menial. Casinos do not create meaningful jobs. Industries do! Let's get away from the NIMBY syndrome and start encouraging good solid businesses to invest in Maine. Encourage our Universities to grow and develop new and exciting innovative programs and products which will develop into business growth. Without them we will never make it as a state.report abuse

Every politician promises "Jawbs….Gooahd jawbs” before they get elected.
So where they hell are all those “Jawbs”?
(Hint: Politicians don’t create jobs, evil businessmen do. You know; those damned old “Rich People” that get crucified every tax time?)
People of Maine have not only asked for this mess, they have continually begged for it and now they have it.report abuse
