Maine people are criminals.

The biggest, longest crime wave in Maine history[per capita] is from about 1975-1989. This is the period called by today Maine people 'as the good old days', before people from away. Statistics prove the 'good old days' when Maine was made up of just Mainers, Maine crime was at its worstt:

Major Crimes... hmmm last I knew murders are included in "major crimes". Murders in the greater Waterville area (as is in most areas of Maine) are investigated by the State Police and AGs Office. Why are they not allowed into this SUPER UNIT.

Is this really anything new? The rest of the United States have been using this type of police cooperation for years.

"Regionalized cooperation/collaboration"
Sounds like Baldacci has visited the greater Waterville area recently, spouting his regionalization of jails/prisons and school districts.

Maybe all of the small towns in Maine should dissolve into a regional police force, (i.e. sheriff's depts)? That way everything and everyone is on the same page; operating the same way, sharing information and resources w/o the need for a regional SUPER UNIT.report abuse

It has taken them how long to figure this out? Now get busy!
What blows my mind and I know it is not the true topic of this article but, why has W made it so anyone smuggling less than 500 POUNDS of marijuana into this country gets off without facing prosecution. Talk about STUPID!!!!! And yet, he prosecutes his own people that grow their own pot, in an order to not support smuggling! Again,STUPID!!!
If the freakin Mexicans and others who smuggle pot will be out of business..........well the pot business anyway. they would still smuggle other drugs probably but pot would not be part of the equation.report abuse
