I hope this is a wake up call to parents and children, to many times I have seen or had kids of all ages in the day and the night run out and just expect a car or truck to stop on the dime.
I have told my son hundreds of times that you do not have the right to run out in traffic and expect not to get hit. I am no lawyer but I do believe that the pedestrian has just as much responsibility to pay attention as the driver.
I am not aware that either of the parties involved was being irresponsible and my heart goes out to both families. Use this as a great time to talk to your kids.report abuse

I don't think this accident has anything to do with "little pukes" playing chicken with drivers. There were lots of kids at the game. Lots of pedestrian traffic and dark clothing. Condolences to all involved.report abuse

The town reports all street lights being out to CMP. I have asked for our street light to be fixed and it have been over a year and still not working. It is amazing how much more to can see with a working street light. Common sense in this case may have prevented this accident. I agree with Rocky2 to a point. Common sense and respect is the key.report abuse
