I have great respect for Sen Marrache, however 620 businesses benefit from Dirigo. There are almost 1700 businesses in greater Waterville alone. So 620 in this State is less than 1% using Dirigo. It is a dead program set forth by party lines and she needs to cross the aisle to see reality and pull the plug. The bigger concern is how she wants to reform Primary Care Concerns, although this is a HUGE issue I find it ironic that she is trying to pass legislation that affects her personal income. Sounds like the fox guarding the hen house. Yes I lost to her two years ago, I am fine with it. once I saw the corruption on both party sides. We need to elect people that are not afraid to stand alone!report abuse

Lisa Marrache is such a puppet! Only a 'few pennies"- - which equals to a $70 million doallar tax increase. Every time the libs want to raise taxes, it is "just a few pennies" here and there. Maybe a $70 million dollar increase is only a few pennies to a doctor, but us average folks think $70 million is more than a "few pennies" - it is real money, Lisa. Taxes are never enough for you, are they??????report abuse

Marrache's is speaking out of both sides of her mouth: Wants to lower taxes at the same time wants the new tax and beer, wine, soda, flavored water, and health insurance itself to be taxed! Time for common sense, and straight talk VOTE FOR HUTCHINS!report abuse

Ms. Marrache is 100% wrong for the following reasons:
1. The average cost of a typical 2 liter bottle of a non-alcoholic beverage will increase 25% as a result of this new tax. The new tax will cost Maine people and Maine businesses $30 million every year, not $11 million as the proponents of the tax have claimed. This tax is so broad, it will cover nearly every non-alcoholic beverage except milk, plain bottled water and 100% juice.

2. This new tax adds $36 million to the cost of health insurance in Maine. Health insurance costs in Maine are already some of the highest in the country. Maine businesses and their employees need relief from the high costs of health insurance and they need it now. Adding an assessment on health insurance costs only makes health insurance more expensive and puts it farther out of reach for people struggling with these costs.

3. No one covered by the Dirigo Health Program will lose their health insurance coverage as a result of the People’s Veto. Passage of the People’s Veto does not eliminate funding for the Dirigo Health Program.

If you are sick and tired of the massive tax burden here in Maine, please vote for Brent E. Hutchins on November 4th.

Every vote for Lisa Marrache is a vote for another tax increase. ** Hutchins 2008 **report abuse
