Oh my god "Best Places to Work in the Food Industry." Get a grip! That is the absolute most unbelievable line of crap ever stated about this place. Notice there are no employee comments - they would not dare to speak the truth or face the death of their jobs. You certainly wouldn’t hear anything nice from most former employees there either. lolreport abuse

C'mon folks! Not much good, nice or positive comes out of the daily newsmills! We have a successful, (still) family-owned company right here in river city...why not put it on the front page? Why not do a little horn blowing? Gifford's is the closest thing to the old "dairy treats" we grew up with, and they serve up a quality product. This story is a nice, refreshing change from the usual doom-n-gloom, and a nice pick-me-up from the banking crisis. Would yo rahter read about the family dog bringing home a human foot (like yesterday.) You naysayers need to get more sun!report abuse

This is definitely a public-relations story with them toting their own horn. There's a special section in the paper for this and certainly not the front page. There are many stories like this that don't get front-page status and should. Remember a while back they didn't get shelf space as other companies - that made the front page too - but we didn't hear the outcome other than seeing them better placed. How many competitions they enter they don't win? When they win one (in Wisconsin) we should know of this? I think they passed on the special supplement that costs $25-50 and got this as a consolation. Great ice cream and frozen yogurt but lets put this in context. Maverickreport abuse

reader, that's a bit more than we pay around here. Must be the location, kind of like Boothbay Harbor in July would be.report abuse
