The problem that many of you have overlooked is the fact that a person can be on the sex offender registry for crimes other than against a child. And in some cases they did not have anouther person as a victim. Now those who say once a sex offender always a sex offender. The US Dept. Of Justice statistics show that sex offenders have one of the lowest recidivism rates amoung all criminals. Now for the lady that said how do the victims feel? Of course they feel bad, but again the US Dept. Of Justice states that 90% of sex crimes are commited by a person well known and trusted by the victim with over 50% of them being a family member. Futher the USDJ states that 95% of sex crimes are commited by a person with no prior arrest record. Sex offender registrys are not for more punishment, but are for public saftey and if that is the case every state should REQUIRE ALL KNOWN SEX OFFENDERS TO PAY FOR TESTING THAT WOULD SHOW HOW MUCH OF A DANGER THEY ARE TO RE-OFFEND. And then post on the registry those who are at the most risk to reoffend. Right now the sex offender laws are being added to by people in public office trying to make the public feel good and trying to get the media to give them free press so they can get re-elected. They are passing laws that cost us money and do nothing to protect us.report abuse

That is an idiotic statement. You don't know me, my IQ, or anything else. One thing for sure though I'll put my IQ, life experiences, talent, wit, up against most anyone and come out on top.report abuse

Lets try to remember that just because you've been accused of something does not necessarily mean you are guilty of it. Many people in jail have been accused of something by an ill-intentioned individual and have to spend the rest of their lives paying for something they didn't do.report abuse
