I don't think so. Before Saco does anything like this they should study how much it would cost to install new systems in their schools. Follow the lead of Gorham High School and Gorham Middle School. How about fixng the main enterance to TA near the guidance offices? I wonder how much money goes out that old door during the winter months. I would think Saco might benefit by being warmer during the winter months due to the global warming caused by MERC plant! When was the last time Saco built a new school? Geothermal, baby!report abuse

Has anyone commented about the families with kids in primary grades who still need child care? If I have a third grader who is suddenly going to school four days a week, and my husband and I work M-F, where does our child go for day #5 if not school, and WHO is going to pay for that child care. I feel for the thousands of families in that boat.report abuse

THe only way this will work if they lock the school on Thursday nite and open on Monday mornin, as long as they have activity on Friday and Saturday this plan will not work. Cut half the activity that are held after school and evening will save a ton of money and heat and electric bills.

The biggest savings with the school would be to cut the adminsatation in half way too much dead weight being paid for half work.report abuse

"It's an automatic 25 percent reduction in transportation costs. That's a huge savings," said Sen. Nancy Sullivan, D-Saco,”

Given the Senator does not understand percentages makes the augment we should not cut education.report abuse
