I live in that neighborhood and I see plenty of absent landlords and run down apartments and houses. That building is a danger and an eyesore now. My point was rather than complain do something about the rat traps. We are lucky to attract any developers for anything at this point. Waterville is a dump and I still say kudos to Mayor Lepage for doing something.report abuse

The Mayor doesn't live in the proposed neighborhood. If you will read my previous post...I said "Build Affordable housing in the Mayor's neighborhood". And why should the taxpayers of Waterville purchase the rat traps in Waterville to fix them up so others can tear them apart?? If you want to live in a decent house...buy one, pay to fix it up, pay taxes on it and let some developer come and put affordable housing next to it or across the street from it. See how it feels to have your neighborhood by an absentee developer and property manager shattered.report abuse

Amazed..where the heck in that neighborhood would you build a big new home? Do a little tour and see how many apartments are already in that area. There is a reason why people are flocking to the other communities. Reading many of the snotty comments on here regarding type of development may be a good reason. Waterville is full of rat traps... how about some of you spouting off each buy one and fix it up and rent to to some high income folks???report abuse

That neighborhood really is not all that. Older homes and MANY apartments already. I won't even bother with the stable families comments because that area has it's fair share of domestic and teenager issues. If you were talking about some of the areas of Sidney and Oakland that are 1 family new homes with a low population radius I could see the concerns better.

Kudos to Mayor Lepage for standing his ground and remembering his own roots. Growing up poor is not a crime. Shame- shame for those attempting to be elite.report abuse
