Innovation is a wonderful thing. Maine is funding research and that is good. However, The large venture capital investment for Maine is in Boston. That is or should be a major concern. If the money comes from Boston where is the product going to be produced? Maine does not at this time have a very good record of commercialization of products from the research. We have very few companies that have been started from the research in Maine. Governor King started to open the research and development in the State of Maine. We now are at an a standstill with the development of innovation. The leadership in Maine is lacking in the ability to assist private development of products. The Brookings Report does give an idea of how to plan and participate but it doees not recognize the place Maine has in the world economy. I agree we need new products but our research is based upon "white papers" and not products.report abuse
