I suppose it'll never be considered, but County School systems seem to work well throughout much of the US and I think it would work well in Maine.report abuse

You are on the mark Neil this is political posturing and I hope the voters in Vassalboro see this before it's to late.report abuse

While I don't question the sincerity of the China School Board, I am not sure that I see the wisdom of alligning with a much larger regional school unit which is not even contiguous with your town. Oakland and all of the other RSU towns will be able to dominate and overrule China on virtually any issue. The Oakland high school is a great distance from China and makes it unusable for the vast majority of China residents. But they will pay for it none the less. And if the RSU decides they don't wish to pay for the transport of China students to Erskine, guess what? They won't.

The Vassalboro school board made a decision based on the best interests of the Town and its students. They have not questioned the sincerity of any other party involved. It is clear from the article that the Vassalboro School board hopes that China will reconsider, based upon our longstanding and mutually beneficial association in the School Union.

Neil Farrington's insinuations are inappropriate, ill-considered and less than intelligent. His political posturing is not helpful in the very difficult challenges posed by school consolidation.report abuse

Lori Fowle was at the China School Board meeting two weeks ago when the board unanimously made the choice to go with the original letter of intent (the one Waterville, Winslow and now Vassalboro are now rejecting) that was summited last year by everyone in this article.
I applaud the China School Board for putting our children ahead of political posturing.report abuse
