Somehow, pulling these invasive plants out from the lake bottom doesn't sound very effective to me. Just the process of pulling them out would scatter seedlings I would think - and how could divers possibly gather all of the plants?report abuse

Wouldn't limiting boats to one lake cause congestion problems on the most popular lakes.

If 25000 boaters in the southern Maine area pick Sebago or 8000 boaters in central Maine pick Great Pond that is going to cause some heavy weekend traffic on the water.

Then watch the camp owners complain.

With over 100,000 registered boats in Maine not including canoes, kayaks and rowboats(which I would have to assume would be included) I think this proposistion will bring some heavy opposition. Which it should.report abuse

Come on DEP register boats to ONE LAKE at a time to help prevent this problem.

Roy Bouchard is the same DEP spokesman for almost a couple of decades now of over filled and green, algae choked China Lake.report abuse

Good luck to you all. It's good to see the enthusiasm and participation by all.
It seems odd that, as rare as that plant is, it shows up in Salmon Lake.
Stick with it, people! Trust me... you don't want that stuff catching on and out of control as a similar plant is here on Snow Pd.report abuse
