Holly- do you receive food stamps and know for a fact what all other recipients spend their benefits on and how much they are receiving?report abuse

I have a friend that gets food stamps, a single (Working) mother of 2, she gets a little over $100. That is not much, and I've seen her groceries, fresh fruit and juices, cereal, all nutritous items, no junk, it doesn't go far, eating healthy is actually more expensive than junk.report abuse

From what I know the amount of food stamps for a family is more than sufficient. I know several families that are on food stamps due to disabilities. Unfortunately most families chose to purchase the more expensive food items as well as junk food.

In 1990 my family had to go on food stamps for a limited time and we had more money than what we knew what to do with. This was when we could have steak & lobster because there was so much money in food stamps.

Now we (family of 5) live on about $150 a month plus food from the pantry and both of us work 40+ hours.

BTW, the bottle is balsamic vinegar dressing not wine. It is illegal for pantries to dispense alcohol.report abuse
