The story says they are "sounding" people out on various issues. Is the encouragement to register and vote done before this sounding or is the encouragement only done if they respond properly to the "various issues" ?report abuse

Dosen;t it just figure it's the LIBRALL"S tryng to cheat there way to signing-up and coarsing people to vote who, might not not even "want to vote", just becuse they know there chancee of winning is as small as gGARBAGE if they can;t cart truck load's of ther debochary friend hippys int-o the voteing booth! I herd it's important to state's like OHIO To get off there rears and keep the riff raff out of the voting list's and maybe MAine could do that here in Maine? Let's se if Micheal Heath can add it to his patitton?report abuse

I get a real kick out of stories like this --- many volunteers on the phones and at the door encouraging people to go out and vote. The tag words and lines used to identify the organization; progressive, liberal, etc., and yet: every phone call and door knocked on is answered by a person who has a right to their own opinion and a right to register and vote. What difference does it make that the organization doing the work is "liberal"?? Its a great reminder: if you want rights to complain, you've got to vote. That's what makes the system go: voters at the polls making decisions on the folks who will make major decisions on laws, taxes, and budgets. Our government, whether state or Federal, is the board of directors. If you don't like what's happening question the candidates really carefully then vote!report abuse
