If it helps to keep our country safe not only from the acute problem of middle eastern terrorists but also the chronic problem of huge numbers of uneducated, uninsured and all too often criminal elements coming across our borders, I’m in favor of “real ID”.
If having to prove I’m a citizen of the United States and a resident of Maine to get a drivers license will also mean others will have to do so, that is a small price to pay for enhanced safety.
It seems this new law might only be used as an ID for the convenience of the flying public though. If that is the case and it will not lead to a system to deport aliens whenever and however they are caught, I’m not in favor going through all that trouble and expense, I don’t plan to fly.
If people who fly want to get through the lines faster then they should have to pay for and carry a card to prove they are cleared to get on board a plane.
If our leaders had been more vigilant and less concerned with cooperating with the special interests wanting CHEAP LABOR we would not be in this situation today.
Illegal aliens are all too often supported by tax dollars for the PUBLIC SERVICES they use so much of. These tax dollars for services supplement and make it possible for the special interests to hire this CHEAP LABOR who compete with Americans for work. Without “real ID” illegal aliens can simply hide from debts and responsibility leaving the legal working Americans to pick up the tab.report abuse
