Mikes and Blackstone, I believe that a person who has an affiliation with a political party that writes editorials/columns for newspapers should declare their affiliation with any political party or if not directly affiliated, at least their political leanings, whether Republican or Democrat. So, yes, Mikes, I would ask a Democrat to do the same thing and Blackstone, if you notice, I put credential in quotes to simply mean his affiliation should have been made apparent along with his academic credentials. As it is, the credentials at the end of this article appear to make him non-aligned with any political affiliation or leanings.

This is not a standard letter to the editor, but rather an article by a regular columnist to this paper and as such should declare his affiliation when writing about politics. As for me, I'm an former avid Republican now independent who stands far to the left on social issues and far to the right on economic and size of government issues (with the exception of health care which I believe should be single payer at a minimum.)report abuse

McCain has said that Cheney is one of the best VPs ever and that although he wouldn't choose Cheney as his VP because they're too much alike, when asked if he would have Cheney in his administration, McCain replied, 'Hell yea!'

I just can't imagine the future of our standing in the world were this to happen. A McCain presidency would be far worse than GW's.report abuse
