May be if everyone keeps crying about how the Plum Creeks property looks, they may just start blocking their property off, then people won't have to worry about it. If you don't want the land developed that doesn't belong to you, I'm sure Plum Creek will be willing to sell the property for the right price. May be all the complainers can get together, buy the property and then let everyone else use it. Oh but if belonged to the people complaining it would all be posted. It's their property and if it's developed they will pay the higher taxes. For the people complaining worry about your own land.report abuse

Plum Creek will destroy Moosehead Lake,,,,if you camp at Moosehead Lake and go to Spencer Bay Camps look at the TOTAL distruction of the area on the way in,,,,,they have CLEAR CUT and left it a disaster area it looks HORRIBLE we were just up there and it is an eye sore,,,,I thought there was a limit on how much you could cut and how close to the road you could cut,,,,,,,,WELL I GUESS THIS DOESN'T APPLY TO PLUM CREEK,,,,,,Take a drive up to Kokajo and take a left on the dirt road right after Kokajo and then take another left and keep going you will see it is terrible what they have done, they have NO regard for Maine wildlife what so ever.....they will ruin Moosehead Lake.report abuse

It's their land, zoned for growing trees (hence the $200/acre price) but they are asking for a zoning change and LURC will hopefully keep denying this change until it's appropriately sited and scaled. The 975 number is the Plum Creek number for starting negotiations. They have never reduced it but have fully expected to - by about half - since the start.report abuse

Somehow, I don't interpret the antagonists of Plum Creek proposals as 'liberals'....I consider more that there is basic ignorance of the basic freedoms of which 'the blogger from TAXLAND' speaks. Plum Creek is endeavoring to PROTECT MAINE for the future by conscientious PLANNING to insure protective growth.....GROWTH THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NO MATTER WHAT!... HISTORY HAS SPOKEN in that regard!!report abuse
