Lobster bait isn't the main objective to alewive introduction just a benefit of it.
Massive sucker harvest at China Lake for lobster bait? Never heard about this in my 46 years of living by the lake.report abuse
Several years ago when the Marine Fisheries people came to a China Selectmen meeting to announce they were going to truck alewives into China Lake, I pointed out they would die in the lake as they could not leave due to the fish screens at the dam.
Now lets just see if the idiots at the Maine DEP are going to allow mass harvesting of alewives in China Lake that could further pollute and destroy the messed up and fragile environment of the lake caused by the DEP’s actions.
The Maine DEP has kept the lake 4 feet higher than the natural level for special interests and has not allowed it to fluctuate naturally for over 35 years, that has been causing the massive damage to the lake environment. Now I fear there is another State sponsored attack on the lake coming under the guise of providing “lobster bait” for another part of the State.
Until I put a stop to it, the brain trust at Inland Fisheries and Wildlife had allowed the lobster bait fishermen to “harvest” the NATURAL lake suckers from China Lake in massive quantities. Lake suckers are algae eaters and China Lake is plagued with algae due to the problems caused by the high stable water levels mandated for China Lake by the rocket scientists at the Maine DEP.
Are the Maine taxpayers paying for all this TRUCKING AND STOCKING of alewives for the benefit of “lobster bait” fishermen? Why should tax dollars be spent for the benefit of one group of residents? If that is State policy then I want free assistance to benefit my business too.
This State is crooked, crooked, crooked.report abuse
