A better idea is to not make a private property owner into an enemy in the first place. Who does this Smith character think he is trying to force himself onto another person's private property? If he wanted to dictate accessibility for the piece of land Quimby purchased, then he should have outbid her for that land.

But he did not.

Instead, he had a hissy. She should have kicked him square upside. Instead, she worked to diffuse a hostile situation Smith created. Good for her.

But Smith still needs to do some growing up. It's her property and she can do any darn thing she so chooses with it. Including, paying taxes.report abuse

So, you're saying we should talk to our enemies? Get to know them? Establish some meaningful dialogue with them? Even if they have sworn to destroy us? Like Nixon and China? Like Reagan and the Soviet Union? Like Obama and Iran?

Maybe this editorial should be forwarded to the McCain people.report abuse
