RINO Ron shouldn't get his percentage of delegates because he HASN'T WON ANY ELECTIONS. Chandler Woodcock doesn't get to be Governor 30% of the time, and Ron Paul doesn't get any percentage of the delegates - they both LOST. You only get delegates in the Republican Party if you WIN ELECTIONS. You don't get credit for second place. This isn't horsehoes, hand grenades, or the Democratic Party.

You don't like it? Be a Democrat. Look how well that proportional thing is going for them. It's almost June and they still don't have a nominee.report abuse

Mr. Ferran either naively misunderstands, or purposefully mis-characterizes, the nature of the document distributed at the convention. It was NOT a "party list"; it was clearly a list endorsed solely by the McCain campaign. Nowhere on the document did it say that the slate of candidates was endorsed by the Maine GOP. Instead, the McCain people marketed it as a "Republican Unity" slate of candidates. I choose to assume Mr. Ferran misunderstood this, rather than lying about it to make a point.

He also misunderstands the nature of the state convention. Delegates do not attend the state convention pledged to any Presidential candidate; they are elected by their towns on their own merit. If they want to say they are "Paul delegates", that's fine, but it has no practical bearing. Nor are the national convention delegate elections tied in any way, shape, or form to the results of the county caucuses.

RINO Ron has gotten lots of press, just not a lot of *good* press. Maybe that's because he hasn't won any elections outside his own Congressional district. If you get some wins you get attention - that's pretty much how the system works. Just getting a lot of votes, and carrying on a quixotic campaign, isn't very meaningful. Second - or third, as is more common in his case - isn't worth much.report abuse

Ahem...

"Paul didn't get the nomination - neither did my guy. "

NOBODY has the "nomination" yet, that will happen at the convention in September in St.Paul. McCain's actual delegate count is not enough to "win" on the first ballot.
There are plenty of "loose" delegates from the other candidates and delegates who aren't real strong McCain supporters who can be swayed in the coming months.

Since Ron Paul is still a running candidate why shouldn't he get his 5/10/15% of delegates earned in the elections? And maybe a few of the dropped out candidates delegates who aren't too hot for McCain as well.report abuse
