It is very disturbing that the bussing for afterschool activities were cut to two days a week. The schoolboard was not advised acuratley by the bussing supervisot who said that not many kids use it. Over 40-50 kids use the busing in the fall and spring, numbers are very low in the winter because not many kids play basketball. This cut saves the district a total of 8,000. Wow, not alot of money. This bussing is vital to kids who play sports. Now those schoolboard members who voted for it, (One from Stratton who wants ALL sports cut period) need to be held responsible for their votes. Also this was the FIRST time we as voters have heard anything about this cut, it was not on the agenda for the prior two schoolboard meetings. I have called my schoolboard member in Strong and will not be voting to pass the budget in June until this is put back. I have spoken to several other parents and voters who will do the same. This is an attemped to indirectly cut sports at Mt. Abram, we the voters do not like this idea. Why do we spend over 100,000$ to purchase a new boiler and windmill, but wont bus the kids (which we have since 1969) for sports and academics afterschool? Because we have in power people who dont care about the kids. Nothing in maintenance got a seriuos cut except for care for the athletic fields. No bus drivers, no restricted use of maintenance vehicles for personal uses. Only things that directly affects kids.report abuse
